Dr. Adonis Sfera, MD
is a board certified psychiatrist who has been serving the Southern California area for over 15 years. For the past 10 years, he has been involved in more than 50 studies, with a particular emphasis on psychiatric trials. He founded South Coast Clinical Trials, Inc. in 2001, and has been either the Principal Investigator or the Sub-Investigator in all of our studies since then. He also maintains a private practice in general and geriatric psychiatry at our Anaheim site.
Karen Frei, MDis an experienced neurologist with a research background in neurological and psychiatric trials.
Dr. Jasjit Kaur, MDa board certified psychiatrist, is the Principal Investigator as well as Sub-Investigator for some of our studies. She also serves as a rater for many of our psychiatric assessments.
Dan Sfera, BS, MBAa regulatory and contract specialist, is responsible for business development and is the Anaheim Site Director. In addition, Mr. Sfera is the Site Liaison for the company and is in charge of obtaining new studies as well as handling all of the necessary study start-up activities for our multiple sites. Dan serves as the liaison between South Coast Clinical Trials and SCCT’s pharmaceutical sponsors or Contract Research Organizations, ensuring that each and every facet of the trials are in full compliance with the Food and Drug Administration and Institutional Review Boards.
Don Waltershaving worked in the healthcare field since 1991 and in the research field since 1999, is currently SCCT’s Community Outreach Director as well as San Bernardino Site Director. His past experience also includes recruiting, marketing and community outreach, as well as working with and assisting psychological assessment teams in Orange County. As a result, he has developed many contacts willing to work with SCCT in the area of central nervous system studies.
Frankie Miller, PAVP of clinical operations, has been a physician’s assistant for more than 30 years, with 20 years of experience specifically in the research field.
Chuong Vu, International Medical Graduate, ECFMG-certified,is another one of our Senior Study Coordinators. With a scientific bachelor background and an extended education in epidemiology and statistics, he has experience in pain management drugs and clinical research on medical devices.
Maria Rosario Diazis a member of the Society of Clinical Research Associates and a Senior Study Coordinator for SCCT. A certified phlebotomist and lab processor, she also assists with patient recruitment. In addition, Ms. Diaz is a certified Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) rater.
Min S Kong, BSis a licensed Emergency Medical Technician and a Senior Study Coordinator. He also has experience as a research associate at University of California, Riverside and Kunkuk University.
